Sam
Senior Cancer Information Clinical Nurse Specialist
As Big C’s Senior Cancer Information Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Centre Lead at our Norwich Centre I am here to not only support everyone who comes through our doors, but also provide up-to-date, accurate and relevant cancer information to our visitors. Big C Centres are here to discuss any concerns or worries you or those close to you may have about cancer and it’s impact. If we do not know the answer, we will always endeavour to find out the answer for you. Before working for Big C, I had 10 years of experience as a Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist in Norwich and prior to that I was a Deputy Sister in an Outpatients Ward. I am also on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and a member of UK Oncology Nurses. Outside of my role with
Big C I love Norfolk and like to spend many a weekend on the river, relaxing and reading.

My journey with Big C started in March 2016 when I was diagnosed with cancer. I used to visit the Norwich on a regular basis with my partner and father. When I had finished treatment and was feeling better, I decided I wanted to give something back to Big C, so I started volunteering, before applying for a role on the team a few years later. Being a Support and Information Officer means I’m one of the first people that you may meet when coming into the Norwich Centre. I’m here to listen to any concerns or worries you may have, even if you just want to talk about what you’re going through. There’s never any expectation or judgement when you walk into a Centre, we’re here to sit and listen and see if there’s anything we can do to help you and those close to you.

Julie
I have worked within oncology for the past 15 years. Firstly as an Associate Head and Neck Oncology Nurse, based on the coast and secondly as an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist/Lead Nurse in Norwich.
I am now excited to be part of an amazing team, as a Support and Information Nurse based at the Big C Centre in Norwich.
My role focuses on giving support and Information to anyone, affected by cancer, that may walk through our centre doors. They are always greeted with a smile, an offer of a warm drink with biscuits and most importantly, a friendly ear, to listen to any concerns or questions they might have. We always endeavour to answer their questions and alleviate their fears and if we do not know the answers, we will try and find out the answers for them.
In any spare time, you will usually find me walking my dog, cycling or gardening and spending quality time with my family.
