I am the nursing and support lead for Big C, managing the Norwich team at the NNUH centre and soon to open city centre on Dereham Road. I work with the support team within the centres delivering holistic nursing support.

I have a deep belief and desire to deliver person centred holistic care, in a sensitive and compassionate way to our cancer population, their families and friends.

Jenny

Based at the Norwich Centre, I offer high quality support and information to anyone affected by cancer. I visit the Big C centres at King’s Lynn and Great Yarmouth for booked nurse appointments, as well as the Pear Tree Centre at Halesworth.

I have had various roles as an oncology nurse. My first role was working on the oncology ward as a Registered nurse. I then transferred to the outpatient nursing team working in a variety of clinics and was part of the brachytherapy team delivering radiotherapy treatment for ladies diagnosed with cervical cancer. Other roles included working with the Acute Oncology team, a seconded Clinical Nurse Specialist post caring for those diagnosed with primary brain tumours and Senior Staff Nurse managing the outpatient nursing team.

Jayne

My role at Big C is to meet and greet service users at our centres, their friends and relatives, and offer support and information.

I have a background in Health (nursing) and Social Care. I joined Big C having previously worked for a charity and wanted to become part of a charity ‘family’ again. As with most people I have lost people that I was close to through cancer and feel privileged to be able to support others going through the same.

I joined Big C, in October 2019 as a Support and information Nurse, having spent several years both in the NHS and Private sector as an Oncology/Chemotherapy Specialist Nurse. I was promoted to my current role, as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, with Big C in March 2022.

It is a privilege to work for such a wonderful charity and to also be part of such an amazing team, supporting and improving the lives of anyone affected by cancer in our community.

I look after the counselling side of the organisation, and ensure we’re able to provide counselling services across our centres.

I really love my role, in particular being able to provide our service users with psychological support they may need.

I work at Big C to provide support to those who are in need, and to work in a fulfilling and meaningful role in my community.

Fran

The role involves providing a listening ear and emotional support to anyone affected by cancer.

I came to work at Big C as I wanted to work for an organisation that provided services for people locally.

Joanna

I meet and greet at our NNUH Centre, listen to people and provide support and information. My role also includes facilitating small groups – I help with the palliative group and sometimes the NNUH women’s group.

On retiring from the NHS after 35 years mainly in palliative care nursing roles, I still wanted to help and communicate with people affected by cancer – using my vast experience in palliative care, along with my skills and knowledge in all areas dealing with patient care.

I work with patients and their families in a holistic way to allow them to feel heard and supported. I provide a foundation for the person to explore anything that they want to talk about in a compassionate and non-judgemental space.

I work at Big C because it delivers an outstanding service to anyone affected by cancer. The organisation genuinely cares about its staff and feels like an extended family. It feels like a progressive thinking charity that is constantly evolving and providing a holistic approach to delivering services to the people of Norfolk.

I am a Support and Information officer so I am here to listen to and support those affected by cancer and the people around them, and to help find the information they need during their treatment journey and beyond.

Having had family members who have experienced cancer and previously worked in the third sector helping people, I felt that the Big C was an invaluable service where I could make a positive difference to people’s lives.
