One of the Complementary Therapies we offer at our Support & Information Centres is Reiki. Also known as energy healing, Reiki is a form of touch or non-touch therapy (depending on the practitioner) which focuses on the flow of positive energy through the body.
Derived from Japan, this form of complementary therapy targets energy fields around the body where it is believed energy has become stagnate. A Reiki practitioner will then remove blocks preventing the flow of energy.
Many people find these sessions help create a sense of restored calm, relaxation and mindfulness.
What does Reiki mean?
The word Reiki is a Japanese word meaning ‘universal life energy’.
What happens during a session?
You are asked to sit in a comfortable chair or lie on a table, fully clothed. The practitioner will either place their hands lightly or float them above specific areas on your body such as the head, limbs and torso.
Will it hurt?
No, none of our complimentary therapies will cause any pain or discomfort. The practitioner may touch you gently during a session, but not without your consent.
