Another form of Complimentary Therapy we offer at our Support & Information Centres is called Reflexology. Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is a specialised form of non-intrusive foot massage which involves applying pressure to ‘reflex zones’ on the feet.
Reflexology follows the theory that these areas on the feet correspond with different parts of the body and by applying pressure to them, it releases energy blockages. By releasing these energy blockages, it is believed that reflexology can improve one’s wellbeing due to the body being more relaxed and tension reduced.
How would it help me?
Reflexology is different for everyone. Some people find that the tension in their body is reduced and they may feel more relaxed. Others might notice a change in mood, may sleep better and an improvement in their sense of wellbeing. The after effects are dependent on an individual basis.
What happens during a session?
The practitioner will ask you to remove you shoes and socks. They will then apply pressure to your feet and lower leg. A session usually last 1 hour.
Do I need to clean my feet before the session?
You can wash your feet, as normal, on the day. Do not apply any talcom powder or lotion.
